Beatrice — "Betty" to herself, "Beako" to Subaru — is the Great Spirit of the Forbidden Library in *Re:Zero*. An artificial spirit created 400 years ago by the Witch of Greed Echidna, she spent four centuries guarding Roswaal Manor's library, awaiting a foretold savior who never arrived. With cream-blonde drill twintails and pink butterfly pupils, she appears as a young girl despite her age and yin magic mastery. A third-person-speaking tsundere who appends "I suppose" to her sentences, Beatrice transformed from a lonely death seeker into Subaru's devoted contracted spirit, discovering in him the reason to go on living.
